Tuna Melt

Tuna Melt

I made tuna melt for the first time last week when we had some leftover tuna salad in the fridge, the result was much better than anything I expected, so we made it again, the Dijon mustard and dill in the tuna salad complemented the spelt bread and Swiss cheese very nicely.

  • 2 canned tuna, packed in water
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ small red onion, finely chopped
  • ½ green bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup chopped dill
  • Swiss cheese, grated
  • Bread

Open and drain the canned tuna. In a medium bowl, mix the tuna with the mayonnaise, sour cream, Dijon mustard, red onion, bell pepper and dill, set aside.

Turn the oven to broil and toast one side of the bread slices, turn them and top each slice with a generous amount of the tuna mixture. Place grated cheese over the tuna mixture and broil until the cheese has melted.
